VideoCast for ChromeCast App Reviews

I have yet to watch a full movie without having the app crash 4 or 5 times. Works good between crashes, but it would be so nice if they could fix the crashing.

Yes, you only get a free 5 minute preview. But come on, it’ll only cost you 5 bucks. If you have a minimum wage job you’d only have to work around a half an hour to pay for this bugatti of an app. It works perfectly and being able to go from having to hook 3 cables up to my tv, in order to play my files from my computer to my laptop, to 1 chromecast has been a godsend. Do yourself a favor and buy this app. You won’t regret it.

will only play the first 5 min of video clip normaly the credits in low def, will not let you chose what 5 min of video to play to see if it will cast in HD. Instead you are prompted for the paid version for 4.99 not knowing if it will work or not. SCAM!

Firstly, it would be lovely if the info mentioned that you can only view 5 minutes of video via the free version. I mean, in all the information that is included in the description how in the world do you fail to mention the time limit? You may want to put up some information to let people know the difference from the “free” and pro version so no one else wastes their time downloading this app.

You have to be kidding me!!! The app is free but you can only watch the first 5 minutes of the vido… Not worth thie time it take to download...

So first things first. I attempted to get support from the company that created this app, the link is dead, just says error 404. I took a look at the other reviews, really wanted to watch a show I had downloaded so I decided to spend the $5 to watch more than 5 minutes of it. BAD IDEA! I have tried various different video formats, I actually know quite a bit about video formats since I’m a video editor, and I STILL cannot get a picture, all I get is audio. On top of that, I cannot find a way to get them to refund the $5 since I have decided to uninstall. I am new to buying apps through the app store so maybe I am missing something, but at the moment, I’m pretty frustrated!

Every time I drop a video file into the DEMO app, it immediately crashes and gives me an error code. I’ve tried multiple different movies and files and they all crash the app. There’s no way I am going to spend a cent on this app if the demo doesn’t even work properly. This application is terrible and no one should even waste their time downloading it until it’s fixed and working properly.

Paid for the extra screen time but I should have checked to see if it would work at all. App spends time decoding the video and opening a browser tab, but NO VIDEO!

First off, the app itself doesn’t work very well for me. It takes so long to buffer the video that it always catches up. It has not gotten through a whole movie without crashing. But the other reason it’s a waste of $5 is that it seems unnecessary. If you have the free chromecast extension for your chrome (which you need for this app to work anyway). I have found that I can take my video file (mp4, etc) and drag it onto the address bar of the chrome browser which will cause the movie to play in the browser. Simply cast that tab and voila! This has worked wonderfully for me with no skipping or buffering needed.

Are you serious? I just paid $5 for this app, and I can’t stream ANY of my *.mkv files because they are a ‘proprietary’ codec? Seriously. Seriously? Meanwhile I can go grab the VideoStream Chrome add-on for FREE and stream whatever the hell I want through my browser. I want my five dollars back. Screw you guys.

Don’t buy the upgrade to this app. THIS APP DOES NOT PLAY .mkv FILES. This app is fraudulent and the guys who came up with it are little more than scammers. Not everything “approved” by the App Store is legit. LESSON LEARNED.

App is total garbage. it does not work at all. while playing it skips completely around. Waste of $5 might as well go buy a pack of newports before you try to mingle with this.

For one the software doesn’t work! Second, ChromeCast now doesn’t even work with my other devices. Thirdly, it only plays the first 5 minutes and you have to upgrade to play what you need for $4.99. No way dude! I am deleting it from my Mac! Bad product release, and lost my confidence for future releases!

…I really don’t understand what’s not to love about this app! I had not ever encountered a video that would not play in Chrome (and therefore could not cast via Chromecast - yes it was your everyday, run-of-the-mill MP4) until tonight. After a lot of searching I finally found this app! Thanks so much! I finally got to watch the movie I had just downloaded on my TV! I have only given the app 4 stars though. That is because I’m waiting a bit just to be sure that it continues to function as expected then I will come back and raise that score to 5. But so far, so good.

I very rarely write reviews for iOS and OS X apps but this is such a stunningly bad app that I decided to. I wish I would have read the reviews before buying the full version. Everything works as advertised but the quality is HORRENDOUS. Don’t buy this app.

Works great with no issues.

The app works when it works as intended. HOWEVER the SUBTITLES option on the app seems to not work for me at ALL . DEVELOPERS IF YOU ARE READING THIS PLEASE THIS Issue.

Quite possibly the worst app of all time. Does none of what it says, and even at that, does nothing poorly. Don’t waste your time. Need a zero start rating for this one...

Despite little here and theres this app is great and I love using it and there’s no other app like this one.

I bought this app with some trepidation, but as a fellow consumerist american I realized I’ve thrown away $5 on a lot less. I’m glad to report through all the nay-sayers on here that this app has worked seamlessly every single time for me. Never has to buffer to catch up, decent quality movies. They’re mostly mp4 and avi files, lets say- borrowed from the internet. I am running on a late 2013 macbook air 13” with multiple chromecasts in my house, using an airport timecapsule- a good strong wifi connection is seriously reconmended in my opinion. But don’t get me wrong, everything included theres about 12 devices on my wifi network. I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars by basic ease of use, but it would be a lot nicer if the app would mirror to chromecast by the app itself. 4 for simplicity, 3 for asethetics- the player has to be updated, frankly it looks a little like windows ’95, i bought a mac for a mac- just sayin’
