VideoCast for ChromeCast App Reviews
So listen, there are lots of bad reviews for this app, and I don’t think that’s quite fair. First of all - this is really a VERY valuable $5 app, in the form of free app with an optional-unlock so you can trial it. It seems to work with any format, and although it’s an extra step to cast through the browser, I find this app a very flexible solution to cast video to my TV.
It wont even open Error says…. Check with the developer to make sure VideoCast works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X. No update available.
It says on the main graphic on the App Store that it plays all sorts of video files, including MKV. However, when I try to play MKV files, the error it gives is: "Audio Codec Unsupported – We are not able to process this file as its audio stream uses a proprietary codec.” Use the Chrome extension called “Videostream for Google Chromecast” instead. It works perfectly, and it’s free.
Only lets you stream 5 minutes of video, if you want to stream more you have to upgrade ($6.99). I upgraded it taking a chance. When trying to connect to Chromecast the app would shut down. Waste of money till fixed. Kind of supprised it made it to the App Store. When clicking - “VideoCast for ChromeCast Support” the hyperlink fails so possible scam also?
Yes, i read the reviews… but like a curious cat, had to try it. How this code made it past the crack team at Apple is a mystery to me. It suffers from "fractal wrongness”, in that it is broken in every possible way, at every possible level, recursively, ad infinitum. walk away, but literally and figuratively, “nothing to see here”. ;<
即落ち
ビデオファイルをドラッグしてプレイボタンを押すと、即異常終了。 Preferencesに至っては最初からディスエーブル。 いたずらソフト?
Although AVI is one of the purportedly supported formats, it says it lacks the codec to play it. Mac’s own Media Player plays the file without hitch? Any explanation?
It’s free… almost
They want you to pay for videos longer than 5 minutes, which can be almost every video you have. They make sure to say it’s a free app though..
Seems create a kind of VPN with a SSL server in UK, grabbing data from 192.168 address range like subnet between mac and Chromecast. I suppose big Privacy Issue :( Deleted
Streaming a little slow or broken !
Otherwise works pretty well on most files but not all files and data transfer is slow ( Don’t think its my 30mbps internet )
horrible
the connection is just horrible, pushing to buffer every two seconds not happy at all
You can only playback for the first 5 minutes, before choosing to upgrade to premium to play entire video content. First 5 minutes was fine so I upgraded, nothing works after the upgrade. Absolutely nothing. It casts the tab itself, no video content. Utter garbage and a waste of my money.
I assume people are hating on this because oh the 5 minute freemium model, then you have to pay 5 bucks to get the real thing, but it works great. I’ll pay 5 bucks to stream my local files. Nice work.
It works until you buy it!
Was working fine until I decided to purchase the Pro version to watch full videos. I’m really ticked off -__-
I was trying to cast a video from iTunes U. The software found my chrome cast, but other than a bar running across the bottom of the screen, I never could get it to actually show any video. I tried it at a medium bit rate, high bit rate, and low bit rate. Same results. This will be a nice app once the issues are worked out.
horrible app
This is horrible, they better fix it, or else I want my money back
Paied 5 dollars and it is not working anymore.
I don’t know why but it stoped work after the first day. :( I wish I can have my money back.
Upgrade doesnt work
I’ve upgraded to a full version but it hasn’t been uplied, though money was taken from the account. Tried to restor purchase - no success.
Does Not Work
To put it in simple terms: This application does not work. Please avoid.
This is a CON. You can simply press command + O when in Chrome, select a video file, which will open in Chrome, then Chromecast (Which actually works better and faster than this app). Apple should remove this the app.
